Technical Mastery

We're back from NYC having attended more Live Design Broadway Master Classes at New York University in May 2008. What a thrill in 2007 to meet Hal Prince at a reception and awards ceremony given by the designers who have worked for him. This year we were treated to meeting Susan Stroman, the director of Young Frankenstein, after the show.

The 2008 Master Classes were under the artistic direction of Jules Fisher and Abe Jacob carried the theme of collaboration. We analyzed the sound design for Young Frankenstein with designer Jonathon Deans and Kevin Adam's Lighting Design and "Wall of Light" for Passing Strange in the theatres after the shows. Conratulations Kevin on your Tony Award for 39 Steps!

Sound is obviously close to my heart. So, image the thrill of interacting with Sound Designer Dan Moses Schreier, music director Paul Gemignani, and Broadway's leading orchestrator Jonathan Tunick while they described their collaborations as the main design team for most of Stephen Sondheim's legendary productions including Into the Woods, Pacific Overtures (my personal favorite), and Sunday in the Park with George.

A Shakespeare Christmas Carol
Was a Smash Hit!

The program from our December 2007 production of A Shakespeare Christmas Carol is online. Click on Marley's picture to the left to view the program and see more photos from the performances. From the creator of the international smash hit A BROADWAY CHRISTMAS CAROL, Actors Scene Unseen presented Kathy Feininger's newest holiday treat, A SHAKESPEARE CHRISTMAS CAROL. A spirited three actor telling of the traditional Charles Dickens holiday tale of the redemption of Ebenezer Scrooge, with favorite passages from Shakespeare adding a new dimension to the story, this unique and innovative melding shows just how seamlessly these two masters work together.  For more show details, click here!
