Perpendicular Poets began in 2000 as a performance poetry class that concluded with
a show for invited guests. The endeavor was so rewarding and exciting that the group
decided to continue. The original group was five women, and they soon voted to limit
the membership to women. Most of the originals are still members, and the number
has more than doubled. The women continue to learn and grow by working together:
improving skills in writing and performing. Now, besides two new shows each year,
the Perpendiculars are often program guests at club meetings and other venues.
